The mosque was built in 1474 by Çesnigir Sinan, chief of the table to Mehmed the Conqueror. It is rectangular across its width, built of cut stone and covered by one large elliptical dome in the middle with four small ones at the corners.
The small square library adjoining it on the west is later: it was built in 1831 by Hacı Sabri Ağa of the Karaosmanoglu family. The mosque stands on the south edge of the Esnaflar park near the old bus garage in the Çarsi quarter, within walking distance of the centre.
