At Emre village, in the Kula district of Manisa, a fountain dated to 1547, the remains of two baths and the foundations of a medrese survive. The building known as the tomb of Tapduk Emre has a great deal in common architecturally with the tomb of Saruhan Bey in Manisa. Inside are ten graves: the one at the centre is said to be Tapduk Emre's and the others those of his family.
The grave immediately in front of the tomb door, whose stone carries the figure of an axe, is believed to be that of Yunus Emre, and thousands of people visit it each year — a belief rather than a documented fact, and recorded here as such.
