The inner castle stands within a military zone and is in the use of the border battalion command, so it is not a place a visitor can walk into.
It lies on the bank of the Tigris in the centre of Cizre. Two lines of wall run parallel to one another there, east to west; the northern one is close to the river and joins the outer walls on the east.
