The juniper known as Fosil Ardıç stands at the entrance to Dineksaray town in Çumra district of Konya province, 50 metres from the main Konya-Bozkır road — and on privately owned land, which the directorate states without saying what that means for visitors.
It was registered as a natural monument in 1994 on 0.05 hectares. Its age is estimated at 519 years, and it measures 10 metres tall, 1.43 metres in trunk diameter and 4.5 metres in girth. The directorate says the tree has become identified with the town itself.
The page does not explain the name, which means fossil juniper; the tree is alive and nothing on the page refers to fossilisation.
