The Gölköy dam lake lies ten kilometres west of Bolu, built on the Büyüksu and Mudurnu streams to irrigate the Bolu plain. When the water is high it covers 185 hectares.
Forest surrounds it and it holds various kinds of fish. Because it is close to the city and easy to reach, it is much used in summer by people who come to picnic and to fish with rod and line.
