Hızırilyas Kaplıcası is in the village of Hızırilyas, about 15 km from Horasan and 102 km from Erzurum. The spring rises at 58°C and carries bicarbonate, chloride, sulphate, calcium and carbon dioxide. Its pools, opened by the Horasan district governorship, are separate for men and women, each 8 m long and 4 m wide. The provincial directorate presents the water as a remedy for skin disorders, rheumatism, gynaecological complaints and calcification of the bones.

- Across Erzurum as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -9.1 °C in January to 19.6 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in July and August; rainfall is heaviest in May (73 mm) and lightest in August (18 mm). Long-term means for 1929-2025 from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
