Kafkasör lies eight kilometres from the centre of Artvin, on high ground under pine forest, and has been declared a Tourism Centre by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is also a forest recreation ground, and small houses called bungalows on the plateau take visitors who want to stay.
The Kafkasör festival, held every June at the beginning of summer, is the busiest time to come and the main reason many people make the trip: traditional bull wrestling and karakucak wrestling, folk dancing and live music, and a chance to see something of the culture of the district around. Coaches other than the largest reach it, as do minibuses and cars; during the festival the municipality runs minibuses up.

- Across Artvin as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from 2.8 °C in January to 21.3 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in May, June, July, August and September; rainfall is heaviest in December (87 mm) and lightest in August (29 mm). Long-term means for 1949-2025 from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
