Kardüz is a highland pasture in the Gölyaka district of Düzce, 28 kilometres from the district centre and 48 from Düzce itself. It lies at 1,830 metres and covers 180 hectares, which makes it one of the highest places in the province. A decision of the council of ministers has designated it a culture and tourism conservation and development area.
The provincial directorate puts it forward as a candidate for winter tourism rather than as a ski centre, comparing its conditions to those at Kartalkaya in Bolu. Outside the snow season it is used for jeep and photography safaris, mountain biking, trekking, riding and camping.
The walking route between the Aksu stream and the plateau is 24 kilometres and passes through endemic plant cover and wildlife. The directorate describes it as suitable for walkers with good stamina, long-distance experience and the ability to find their own way — not a marked and waymarked afternoon.
