Anyone driving to Abant from the Düzce side passes close to Kocayayla: the pasture sits seven kilometres from Abant on the shortest route between the two, which is the practical reason most visitors find themselves here. It is not an isolated pasture but part of a connected group with Sehirli, Çiçekli and Sinekli.
The figures the provincial directorate gives for it are modest: 1,450 metres of altitude and 86,159 square metres of ground, 35 kilometres out from Düzce. The approach runs through Beyköy and Ugurkoy and past the Samandere waterfall, which is worth the stop on the way up.
