Katip Han stands beside the historic markets in the centre of Kahramanmaraş. Its foundations go back to the time of Alauddevle Bey of the Dulkadirids, but it took its present form when it was rebuilt after the great fire of 1780. Fine-dressed and rough-dressed stone, rubble stone, mudbrick and timber were all used in its construction. It has three storeys and stands on the north side of the courtyard; the ground floor served as storage and the upper floor for travellers to stay in. It is quite plain, and the municipality restored it and opened it to visitors in 2013.
The han is in two parts. In the eastern part are a ground floor of 240 square metres, a dining hall of 200 and a kitchen of 40. In the western part, the 60-square-metre western room has four descents into cellars, and olive oil presses are displayed in the 35-square-metre large hall. The first floor was arranged as a dining hall of 110 square metres, and on the second floor the six rooms of 20 square metres each opening off the sofa are given over to craft products representing the traditional culture of Maraş. The han is at Kıbrıs Meydanı in Dulkadiroğlu.
