The Turus rock tombs are 40 kilometres from Adıyaman, a kilometre west of the Adıyaman-Şanlıurfa road, and are of the Roman period. They were cut down into the bedrock from ground level, and are entered by descending ten to thirteen steps; some have figures and reliefs on their walls and around their doorways. The Haydaran rock tombs lie 17 kilometres north of Adıyaman, within the bounds of Tasgedik village, and among their carvings is a relief of the sun god Helios shaking hands with King Antiochus.

- Across Adıyaman as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from 4.7 °C in January to 31.1 °C in July; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in April, May and October; rainfall is heaviest in January (137 mm) and lightest in July (2 mm).
