The Malatya Culture House is a set of furnished rooms rather than a gallery of objects in cases. Regional needlework and carpet weaving are shown where they were done, and a kitchen and pantry and rooms given over to apricots are laid out as they would have been in a Malatya household.
Two of the rooms are given to people rather than trades. One belongs to Kemal Sunal and one to Ahmet Kaya, each with a wax figure of the man and personal belongings of his.
The building was designed to sit with the architecture of the city and stands on Sanat Sokağı, the art street laid out by the municipality. It was opened in 2017 by Malatya Metropolitan Municipality with support from the Fırat Development Agency, with the stated aim of carrying the cultural life of the Republican period and after to later generations and of giving back some presence to customs and habits the province had begun to lose.
It is within walking distance of the Metropolitan Municipality building.
