Marmaracık Köyü Nature Park lies at the northern end of the Bosphorus on the European shore, in the Mavromoloz forest above Rumeli Kavağı in Sarıyer, İstanbul. It was declared on 11 July 2011 and takes its name from the cove to its west. The latest revision puts the area at 27.37 hectares. The park also falls inside the Feneryolu Wildlife Development Area.
The Directorate General of Nature Conservation and National Parks describes the tree cover in two ways on the same page: it says conifers dominate the area, and then, under the heading for vegetation, that the flora consists mainly of oak with patches of maquis. The species it lists include sessile, Türkiye, Hungarian, pedunculate and Aleppo oaks together with maritime, black, red and stone pines, cedar of Lebanon, Mediterranean cypress and alder, and, in the shrub layer, oleander, blackthorn, prickly juniper, thorny burnet, strawberry tree, dog rose, tree heath and bramble. Wild boar, wolf, squirrel, jackal, fox, mole and tortoise are recorded, along with goldfinch, magpie and sparrow.
Practically this is a beach and picnic park rather than a hiking one. There are country houses, a country restaurant, a kiosk, a children's play area and a beach, and the day-use grounds are laid out for picnicking; forest paths allow walking, and water and beach sports are listed among the activities. It is open from 09:00 to 20:00, with capacity given as 6,750 visitors and 150 vehicles. İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality holds the lease.
By road, follow the Sarıyer road to Rumeli Kavağı and then the shore road on the left to its end. By public transport from either side of the city, the route the directorate gives converges at Zincirlikuyu: from Kadıköy take the 34 metrobus there, then either the 42M bus towards Bahçeköy along Levent Büyükdere Avenue, or the Yenikapı-Hacıosman metro to its terminus and the 150 bus to the Kale Caddesi stop. From there the last stretch is by taxi.
