This is the house where the Armistice of Mudanya was signed on 11 October 1922, between the government of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Allied powers, ending the Greco-Turkish war and marking a political victory over the occupying forces.
The house stands on the coast road in the Mudanya district of Bursa and dates from the end of the 19th century. It belonged to a merchant of Russian origin, Alexander Ganyanof, and was later bought and restored by a Mudanya businessman, Hayri İpar; it opened as a museum in 1937.
Beyond the basement and the attic the wooden house has two floors. On the first are the hall where the armistice was signed and İsmet Pasha's study. On the second are the bedrooms of İsmet Pasha and Asım Gündüz Pasha, who attended the negotiations for the Grand National Assembly government, together with those of their aides-de-camp. The furnishings of the armistice period are preserved, and photographs and documents from the time are displayed alongside them.
