Pokut sits at 2,032 metres, around the upper limit of the forest, on the ground between the valleys cut by the Fırtına and Hala streams south of Çamlihemsin. What it is known for besides the walking is its building: the timber houses here are a civil architecture the provincial directorate calls without equal, and the mist that sits over them is part of why people come.
The plateau is 15 kilometres from the centre of Çamlihemsin; the road turns east off the Fırtına valley at the village of Senyuva. Some of the plateau houses take guests as pensions, so it is possible to stay.
