Konya's Selçuk University runs its own museum, and its collection looks well beyond Anatolia: Maya, Aztec and Inca objects sit alongside pieces from China and Japan and from several African cultures, some 2,500 items in all, gathered over years of work according to the university.
The university describes the museum as the first in Türkiye for the breadth of such a collection, and presents it as one of the few university museums in the country. At its opening the Faculty of Fine Arts also showed 46 works by 43 of its staff.
