The Tire City Museum occupies the town's old municipal building at Atatürk Caddesi No. 2 in the Yenimahalle quarter. The building was put up in 1955, and when the municipality moved to another building in 2014 it was turned into a museum and opened to visitors on 15 October that year. It is run by the municipality.
The basement of the old municipal building is given over to a cinema hall. The museum itself begins with the corridor on the ground floor, where the history of Tire and its former mayors are presented, followed by photographs of well-known people from Tire and various ethnographic material. At the lower end of the corridor stands a car used by the mayor in the 1940s.
The halls hold sections devoted to trades, some of them dying out: handicrafts, the culture of food and drink, sporting activity, the culture of water and the bath, barbering, tailoring, shoemaking and photography. Some sections use mannequins; in others craftsmen are actually at work. In the garden are busts of well-known Turkish figures.
