The museum displays its collection in two halls.
The archaeology hall covers the period from about 3500 BC to AD 1100, with statues, grave stelae, marble table legs, sarcophagi of marble and of terracotta, glass, terracotta oil lamps, coins arranged in chronological order, bronze lamps, electrum and silver coins, fragments of terracotta figurines and statues of children.
The ethnography hall holds manuscript copies of the Qur'an, writing sets, men's and women's jackets, bed covers worked in thread and in silver wire, dowry chests, bath clogs, bath and healing bowls, women's silver ornaments, European ceramics used in the Ottoman period, weapons of various periods, objects belonging to dervishes and their lodges, Çanakkale ceramics, paintings, carpets, kilims and stained-glass windows.
The museum has been closed to visitors because of structural problems with the building, and work on a new museum is under way.
