The İş Bankası Museum holds objects covering the history of the bank, which was founded by Atatürk, and the growth of economic independence in Türkiye since the republic was declared.
It occupies a historic building put up in 1890 as a post office. The building was transferred to İş Bankası in 1927 and served as a branch until 2004. It was turned into a museum in 2005 and opened to the public on 14 November 2007, and since 2011 it has held workshops for students.
The collection is made up of three-dimensional objects taken from the bank's branches, drawn from its everyday working life, together with paper and visual material from its archive. Some works from the bank's painting collection are displayed here as well. The museum has three floors, and among the rooms shown is the one in which Atatürk was received at the bank.
The ground floor was designed to display the strongroom and the counters that stood on the ground floor of the bank. The bookshop of İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları is also on this floor.
On the first floor a permanent display runs through eight halls, telling the history of the bank in order of date. It shows documents and photographs from the rich archive reflecting social and economic life, banking equipment of different periods such as typewriters and calculating machines, money boxes, promotional material and advertising films.
