Guide
Yıldız Dağı rises to 2,552 metres north of Sivas, and its ski centre is 58 kilometres from the city. The mountain is made of gabbro, and its slopes run at gradients of 12 to 24 degrees, which the Sivas governorship calls ideal for skiing; it also describes the centre as the youngest and safest in Türkiye.
The Yıldız Dağı Winter Sports Tourism Centre has five ski lifts, two hotels, bungalows, an ice park, a children's play centre, day-use facilities, artificial snowmaking, a health post and a security post. Winter brings skiing, sledding and snowboarding; in summer there is horse riding, cycling, camping and water sports such as boat trips, angling and diving. Ice skating, paragliding and trekking are among the activities offered in both seasons.
