Belemedik covers 4,349 hectares in the Pozantı district of Adana and was declared a nature park on 2 December 2014. The Çakit stream draws its western boundary and the rocky ground of Akdağ covers the north.
What grows between them changes with height: maquis mixed with red pine across much of the park, then hairy oak with maquis and phrygana, pure red pine forest, black pine with stinking juniper, a mixed forest of Taurus cedar, Taurus fir and black pine, and mountain steppe above. It is nine kilometres from Pozantı and 117 from Adana, with capacity for 5,000 visitors, 500 vehicles and 50 tents.
Among the animals of the park it is the wild goat that stands out. One built thing is singled out as worth seeing: the German cemetery. Walking is done on the paths already there, and the uses the directorate names are nature walks, wildlife watching, nature education, botanical and scientific tours, viewing, photo safari, tent camping and day recreation.
The nature conservation directorate's own assessment of the place is worth repeating because it says what kind of visit to expect. What it treats as the park's chief quality is a landscape character produced together by geomorphology, ecology, biology and a traditional way of living, with the forest set against a topography that keeps changing. It calls the ground wholly untouched, and says its vegetation, its animals, its landscape, its potential for recreation and its climate make it a place worth coming to simply to look at.
