The museum was founded in December 2025 within Atatürk University's biodiversity research centre, and its subject is what lives in Türkiye rather than what was made here.
The collection gathers endangered, endemic and rare species: plants, insects, birds, fish and mammals, together with fossils, taxidermy and models of prehistoric animals including dinosaurs.
It has its own building on the university campus in Yakutiye and opens on weekdays, 08:30 to 16:30; closed at weekends.
