The Şehidiye madrasa at Mardin is thought to have been built at the beginning of the 13th century by the Artuqid sultan Melik Nasreddin Artuk Aslan. The plan is the familiar one — a porticoed courtyard with iwans, and a two-aisled masjid on the south side — but so many alterations, repairs and additions have been made that little of the original survives.
Its minaret had fallen and was rebuilt in 1916–17.
