The city museum in central Çorum is installed in the Veli Paşa Hanı, a han built at the end of the nineteenth century. The municipality took the building on a thirty-five-year lease to bring it back into use, restored it between 2017 and 2022, and opened the collection to visitors in 2023.
What is gathered inside is the town's own cultural material, assembled by the municipality to pass it on to the public and to later generations and worked through by scholarly method rather than simply put on show. The archaeology department of Hitit University took part in laying out the galleries and arranging the display, with teaching staff and students working on the installation.
