Misi — officially Gumustepe, in Nilüfer — has turned itself into a village of small museums, and this is the one built on paper. It is a literature museum and an archive at the same time, and the archive is the part that makes it worth the trip.
What is kept here is the working residue of writing: letters, more than 800 of them, exchanged between literary figures; newspaper issues from a range of periods; first editions; a photographic archive; and the manuscripts, book sketches and personal effects of over 185 poets and writers.
It opened in 2018, at Dere Sokak No 9, and runs thematic exhibitions and learning programmes alongside the permanent display. Hours are 09:00 to 17:00.
