At 1,800 metres, Kayabaşı Yaylası is ringed by spruce trees and known for its yayla festivals, its flora, its walking trails and its suitability for jeep safaris. The Trabzon Governorship has built a second yayla town here, and there are forest recreation facilities belonging to the national parks administration.

Getting there

There are three ways up. The main one is a 16-kilometre asphalt road from the Işıklar neighbourhood of Akçaabat. A 2-kilometre stabilised road also comes through the forest from Haçka Yaylası above Düzköy, and a forest route leads in from Maçka by way of the Şolma and Lişer yaylas.
