At 2,200 metres, Çatma Obası is a small yayla 9 kilometres south of Kadırga Yaylası, which lies 14 kilometres east of the Erikbeli Tourism Centre, itself 24 kilometres from Tonya. Walkers can follow routes linking the Erikbeli, Kadırga and Çatma Obası yaylas with the Zigana ski centre.
Several spots around it are woven into local legend: Mızraklı Su, Şehitler Tepesi and Çıngıraklı Kuyu. The story of Mızraklı Su tells of a soldier, desperate with thirst during a battle, who broke his spear in two and hurled the halves left and right with all his strength; water sprang up where one half struck and vanished where the other landed. Some 50 to 60 metres lower down, the water disappears strangely into the grass, and the place where it rises is protected. Çıngıraklı Kuyu, the jingling well, takes its name from the way a stone dropped into it goes on sounding for a long time.
