In the Çal Köy area of Düzköy, 5 kilometres south of the district centre and 51 kilometres from central Trabzon, a long cave at 1,100 metres above sea level has been fitted with lighting and walkways. The entrance is about a person's height, and stalactites and stalagmites begin to appear after the first 150 metres. Its full length has not been measured.

Inside, a stream runs through the cave, forming small pools and cascades; the air is dry at the entrance but grows noticeably more humid deeper in. Because sinkholes connect the cave with the outside, the air moves freely. The galleries and passages are narrow in places and very wide in others, and on the hill above the cave, commanding the surroundings, stands a castle.

Around the cave there are basic facilities, a country coffeehouse and picnic areas.

Getting there

Just before entering Düzköy, take the road branching to the right and continue through Çal Köy; the road is asphalt and in good condition.
