The reason this area is protected is a stand of old fir trees, and the nature conservation directorate names their protection and continuity as its most important value. It covers 324 hectares in the central district of Bolu and was declared on 30 October 1987.
It is about 18 kilometres from Bolu, reached by a forest road leaving the Bolu-Seben state highway at its 18th kilometre.

- Across Bolu as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from 0.6 °C in January to 20 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in June, July, August and September; rainfall is heaviest in May (61 mm) and lightest in August (24 mm).
