Çamlık is an open-air museum of steam locomotives laid out on a piece of the İzmir-Aydın line — the oldest railway in Türkiye — near Çamlık village in the Selçuk district, a short distance from Ephesus.
It exists because of a realignment. When the İzmir-Aydın line was rebuilt, a stretch of track and Çamlık station were taken out of service, and the closed station site became the museum. Work began in 1991 and finished in 1997, using the original track laid in 1866.
The arrangement behind it is unusual enough to be worth knowing: the land, the buildings and the locomotive collection all belong to the state railways, but the museum is run on a 99-year lease by Atilla Misirlioglu, the son of a signalman who used to work at Çamlık station.
