At 1,946 metres, Karadağ is a high yayla above Akçaabat that the provincial directorate of culture and tourism describes as rich in oxygen, so much so that people who have been treated for lung illness choose it for their holidays. The surrounding wildlife is also rich.
Its basic services are in place, and there are souvenir sellers, a grocery, a coffeehouse, a restaurant and a bakery on the yayla.
Getting there
From the Akçaabat–Düzköy road, turn west at the 12th kilometre and follow a 28-kilometre dirt road up to the yayla. It can also be reached from the Vakfıkebir district.
