The monument park covers 65,000 square metres and opened to visitors on 14 August 2003, in memory of all those who fell for the country and of the veterans still living.
The main pedestal of the monument is 15 metres high and built in the manner of traditional Turkish architecture. To its right and left stand columns representing the 81 provinces of the country, each carrying the name of the province it stands for. Municipal buses run out towards the monument from the city centre; it is opposite the air force training brigade.
