Salda Gölü Tabiat Parkı was declared on 11 July 2011 over 12 hectares, and a boundary revision in 2019 extended it to 57. It lies in the Yeşilova district of Burdur.
Two fish make this lake matter beyond the region. One is the Burdur endemic Pseudophoxinus cf. ninae; the other, Aphanius splendens, the Salda toothcarp, lives nowhere else in the world. Four fish species in all have been recorded here. Carp is the only one with commercial value, and although it is present, it is not fished. The single reptile recorded in the lake is the dice snake.
The lower basin of Salda is one of the important areas in the country for waterbirds, serving as a stopping and living place particularly in autumn and winter: 38 waterbird species and 62 songbird species have been recorded here at various seasons. Around the park, fox, wild boar and brown hare have been seen.
Plant records give 301 aquatic and terrestrial species belonging to 61 families, of which two mulleins — Verbascum dudleyanum and Verbascum trapifolium var. flabellifolium — occur only at Salda and its surroundings. The park's stand map shows why the shore looks as it does: roughly 43 per cent Calabrian pine in good or degraded condition, 21 per cent open water, 15 per cent dune, 10 per cent agricultural land and the remainder grass.
The park has a stated capacity of 5,040 visitors and 313 vehicles, and is used mostly by people from Burdur and the neighbouring provinces for picnics, walking, trekking, orienteering and outdoor events, mainly in spring and summer. It lies on the Burdur–Acıpayam–Denizli road, 9 kilometres from Yeşilova, 69 from Burdur and 82 from Denizli.
