This natural monument is not one tree but eighteen. Eighteen chestnuts stand next to the Gölcük recreation area on the Gölcük plateau in Ödemiş district of İzmir province, and the directorate gives their measurements as ranges: ages of around 500 to 700 years, girths from 5.00 to 9.50 metres, trunk diameters from 1.60 to 3.03 metres, and heights between 10 and 24 metres.
Two things about their condition are on the record. Their branches were pruned by local people in past years, and because of their age most of them have developed hollows in the trunk. The protected ground is 2.5 decares, given in the area record as 0.25 hectares, and the site was declared in 1994.
Capacity is 100 visitors and 100 vehicles, with hours of 07:00 to 21:00.
The plateau is 19 kilometres from Ödemiş town centre and 112 from İzmir Adnan Menderes airport.
