Kazan Kale stands 12 to 13 kilometres northeast of Ardahan, on a tongue-shaped rise where the Kura valley narrows, on the right bank taking the river's direction of flow.
Its date is not known and the provincial directorate offers no estimate. Traces of earlier settlement lie around it.
