Kepekler Kaplıcası, also known as Ilıca Boğazı, lies within the village of Ilıca Boğazı, 20 kilometres north of Susurluk and 60 kilometres from Balıkesir, and has the status of a thermal tourism centre. Its water carries sodium, chloride and bicarbonate. The Balıkesir directorate of culture and tourism recommends the baths for rheumatic and nerve complaints, paralysis, stiff joints and gynaecological conditions, and the mud treatment for every kind of rheumatism, nerve pain, polio and the immobility that follows fractures and dislocations, among other uses.

Across Balıkesir as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from 4.9 °C in January to 25.7 °C in July; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in May, June, September and October; rainfall is heaviest in January (87 mm) and lightest in August (5 mm).
