On 11 October 1995 the Directorate General of Nature Conservation and National Parks declared eight individual trees in the Örümcek Forest natural monuments on the same day: four firs and four Oriental spruces, numbered rather than named. Fir I is the slenderest of the four firs: 55 metres tall on a trunk only 1.20 metres across, with a girth of 3.77 metres. The directorate puts its age at 417 years.
The register entry for each of the eight is measurements only. The province is Gümüşhane; the fields for district, access road, opening hours and visitor capacity are all empty. These trees stand in working forest, not in a laid-out visitor area, and nothing in the listing tells you where the trail or the parking is — ask the provincial branch of the directorate before setting out to find a particular numbered tree.
