Spruce I is the shortest of the eight Örümcek Forest monument trees at 49.1 metres, though not the slightest: its trunk is 1.48 metres across. The Directorate General of Nature Conservation and National Parks declared all eight natural monuments on the same day, 11 October 1995: four firs and four Oriental spruces, numbered rather than named. Its girth is 4.65 metres, and the directorate gives its age as 400 years.

- Across Gümüşhane as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -1.7 °C in January to 20.3 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in June, July, August and September; rainfall is heaviest in May (70 mm) and lightest in August (14 mm).
