Bayezid I died in 1402 and was first buried at the tomb of Şeyh Mahmut Hayrani in Akşehir; he was later brought to Bursa and buried here. The building is broadly rectangular in plan, made up of a square main chamber with vaulted transitions under a dome on an octagonal drum outside, and in front of it a porch covered by three domes. It is the first tomb with a porch in Ottoman architecture.
The porch is formed by masonry piers at the corners and two columns at the centre, linked to one another by round arches, and it is built higher than the main structure. The walls are laid in two courses of stone to one of brick, and the floor is paved with brick. Inside, Bayezid I lies at the centre, with his son İsa Çelebi and his wife to his right, and at the foot two further cenotaphs whose occupants are not known. The tomb is on Yıldırım Caddesi.
